چکیده

In a procedure for the routine electrophoretic fractionation of serum glycoproteinson cellulose acetate, electrophoretic fractionation is followed by staining utilizing the periodicacid-Schiff reaction. The patterns are scannedwith a recording densitometer and simultaneouslyquantitated with an attached integrator. For 100 healthy blood donors, the meansand standarddeviationswere: albumin, 10.9±1.4; alpha1,18.6±1.9; alpha2, 29.6±2.3; beta, 21.6±2.0; and gamma, 19.3±1.9%, respectively.

Parallel electrophoretic fractionation of alkaline phosphatase and serum protein on cellulose acetate strips: clinical evaluation.

We describe here a simple, time-saving method for separating alkaline phosphatases on cellulose acetate, with a parallel detection of serum protein pattern. The staining procedure is based on a coupling reaction between the reaction product of alpha-naphthol with Fast Red Violet LB. The enzymatic reaction is done by bringing the cellulose acetate strip containing the phosphatase band into conta...

Evaluation of a cellulose-acetate electrophoresis system for serum protein fractionation.

A rapid system for the quantitative fractionation of serum proteins by electrophoresis on cellulose-acetate membranes was evaluated and found to be quite precise. The reproducibility (coefficient of variation) of the routine fractionation of a control serum carried out 40 times during a 15-week period was 2.4% for albumin and 14.2, 6.0, 6.1, and 5.2%, respectively, for the ar-, a2-, /3-, and -y...

Serum Alpha-1-antitrypsin Evaluation by Three Electrophoretic, Enzymatic and Immunodiffussion Methods

Abstract Background & Objective: Alpha-1-antitrypsin (AAT) is the major component of the human plasma alpha-1 globulin proteins and acts as a major inhibitor of proteolytic enzymes, particularly elastase. AAT deficiency is accompanied by lung, liver and other disorders, therefore, AAT is clinically important and its precise evaluation is diagnostically critical. In present study serum AAT was e...

Incidence of a split alpha 2-glycoprotein band in the electrophoretic pattern for serum of adenocarcinoma patients.

We electrophoresed serum samples on Mylar-backed cellulose acetate membranes and stained for glycoproteins with the periodic acid--Schiff reagent. The samples were from untreated adenocarcinoma patients, adenocarcinoma patients receiving chemotherapy, and patients with other malignancies, and also from patients with benign proliferative diseases, inflammatory diseases, and other non-malignant c...

Imprecision of quantification of serum protein fractions by electrophoresis on cellulose acetate.

We studied the precision of densitometric quantification of the protein zones resolved by cellulose acetate electrophoresis. Replicate analyses of patients' samples by a single technologist showed mean CVs ranging from 2.9% for serum albumin to 9.5% for alpha 1-globulin. There were marked differences in measurements obtained by replicate analysis of the same samples by two experienced technolog...
